Why MLM-Network Marketing and McDonalds are Similar, And How You Can Take Advantage of It

I have almost finished reading what I consider one of the best business books around - 'Grinding It Out' by Ray Kroc - founder of McDonalds. Ray wrote candidly about his hard work and what it took to make the world's most famous fast food franchise succeed. As I was reading the book - there was a clear message throughout, and I found it related to network marketing really well...

The Fortune Is In The Follow Through

You may have heard that saying before, I know I did, but I didn't fully appreciate it until recently. The message in Ray Kroc's book was very clear. There were countless times when there were setbacks and reasons why they should quit - but Ray had focus and vision, he knew what he wanted, and was going to get it come hell and high water.

I can't recommend the book enough - it will inspire you in your MLM business.

Why McDonald's business isn't Burgers, and what it means in your MLM

You'll have to forgive me, as I don't have the year this happened at my finger tips. I read it in a book - I think it was Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Ray Kroc - founder of McDonalds went and spoke in front of a University class one day. Afterwards, some of the students pulled Ray aside and asked him out for a quick drink at the local pub - in which he gladly accepted. When they were all settled with a few beers - Ray piped up and said "so.... what business am I in?"

All the students cracked up laughing - thinking that Ray was just winding them up. Ray seemed unamused and said once again "what business am I in?". Finally one of the students said "Hamburgers of course, Mr Kroc". A smile came over Ray's face. He then said "no, that's not really my business. I'm actually in Real Estate...." The students look puzzled, Ray noticed and clarified what he was saying. "Listen, burgers aren't my real business - they're just an excuse to get people in the door, my real business is real estate. McDonald's owns some of the most valuable pieces of commercial real estate in the world. With that valuable real estate comes heavy foot traffic... and I bet you can all put two and two together now..."

You see, that's why Ray said real estate was his real business. The burgers and the fries on the side didn't mean anything without a steady flow of people coming in the doors. With the right real estate as their main focus (and they do own much of it), the rest of the game is easy.
